my b-day/fall break!

this has been a wonderful fall break so far and it was much needed! First of all, my super great roomie, Emily, came home with me for two days to spend my 20th b-day with me and my family. Friday night we just chilled at my house b/c we were super tired. we ate pizza, watched "Save the Last Dance 2", and watched Brian Regan on youtube, which is just about the funniest thing ever--we laughed so hard it hurt! On saturday i serenaded my family with my um, not so amazing trombone playing (i've only played it a week or so...) My madre made chocolate sol (Colombian hot chocolate) for breakfast!!!! Then Emily and i went shopping and Emily bought a red formal dress at Macy's for the Cru formal. oh yeah, we also stopped at the new starbucks near my house and got pumpkin spice lattes...they're super good! what else did we do? we ran back to my house to get all dressed up for the best part of the day--the cheesecake factory and the ISO concert in Indy! the pumpkin pie cheesecake was excellent and so was the concert! we had front row seats! The ISO played Shostacovich piano concerto no. 2 and Tchaikovsky symphony no. 5! So that pretty much topped off a very memorable 20th b-day! i forgot to mention the what my parents got me...The Little Mermaid 2 disc special edition dvd!!! When i was little i watched it almost every day, so my mom gave it away to my little cousin! i hadn't seen the movie in about 7 or 8 years! so on sunday night Ashley came over and we watched it! of course we sang along the whole time! it was great!
Sunday, Emily came to church with my family and then my dad and i drove her to Kokomo to meet her dad half-way b/c she's from Peru. i don't remember what else i did...probably took a siesta! y-day (Monday), i slept in, practiced flute, piano, and trombone all morning and then went with Tirzah to her spanish class at Purdue! Afterwards we went to the Union and got carmel apple cider at starbucks. it was a gorgeous day outside, so we took a bunch of random pics around campus. then we went to the mall and i got some kaki's at Aeropostal. We ran home b/c tirz had to tutor and i had a bad migraine. after dinner, my mom and i went back to the mall to get me a winter coat even though it was so warm outside. then i went to Ash's house and we watched "A Far off Place" and had amazing Culver's pumpkin pie custard!
to that pretty much sums up my fall break and birthday! I haven't even started my hw yet....
i hope everyone else had a great break as well!!! I'm definately refreshed and looking forward to returning back to school!
Thank you God for a truly wonderful weekend and 20 years of life on earth!
-i'll post pics when i get back to school b/c being the smart person i am, i forgot my USB chord that hooks up to the computer

Romans 11:33-36

"Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to Him again? For from Him and through Him and to Him are ALL things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen."

i passed!

i'm soooo happy! i passed my trumpet playing exam today--in fact i got a B!!! now, i know that that doesn't sound like a big deal, but for me it was ginormous! i seriously thought i was going to fail the midterm since i couldn't play most of the high notes! i made the mistake of practicing almost an hour of trumpet before the exam which wore my lips out, but at least i was able to reach more of the high notes. Dr. Scheib was all like, don't make the high notes sound so loud and piercing, and i was like i'm just happy they're coming out at all! haha! so now i'll be playing the trombone for the remainder of the semester! yayness! midterms

i decided that i actually like midterms! this is mainly b/c i have fewer classes than usual. For example, emily and i did our entire sightear midterm (both dictation and singing) on tuesday morning, so that means that we don't have to go to class tomorrow and we can sleep in a half hour or so. the only thing i'm not exactly looking forward to is my trumpet playing exam tomorrow! i'm not gonna lie, i'm definately not cut out to be a brass player! i practice almost every day but still can't play some of the high register notes. the good news is that after the exam i can return the trumpet and start the trombone!
i'm excited about this weekend b/c friday is the Cru barn bash (yay for line dancing), and Sunday is the first BSSO concert! We're playing Shostacovich Symphony no. 5 and Rossini's overture from the Barber of Seville. I really like the Shostacovich except for a couple intonation issues, mainly involving the E flat clarinet/flutes/picc. no big surprise there! well, i think i'm gonna go finish coloring since i have nothing better to do...
Ciao, Ciao

fall retreat!

wow, this weekend was simply amazing! there is so much i could say about fall retreat but right now i don't have the time or energy...that's right i'm going to bed early for once! the highlights of the retreat were (1) getting away from the business and stress of school and just enjoying the fellowship of brothers and sisters in Christ (2) worshiping and falling deeper in love w/my Savior (3) the rainbow!!!!! (it was huge and vibrant!) and (4) Signs--a super fun game that we played at all hours of the night! No, emily and i didn't go swimming or canoing in the Lake this year, but next year we're planning to! well, i'm super excited about this week, mainly b/c Aida is coming to Emens on Tuesday night and our Wind Ensemble concert is this weekend in Sursa (yeah, it's finally open!) Have a great week everybody and good luck with midterms if you have any this week...i know i have one or two this week (scariness!). nite!
