only three more hours...

that's right folks....in only three hours i'll be in at the Hilbert Circle Theatre in Indy watching the amazing Sir James Galway (only the most amazing flautist imo) perform with the ISO! The best part is that the theme of the concert is Spain...James will be playing the following pieces:
-Espana by Emmanuel Chabrier
-El Sombrero de tres picos (Manuel de Falla)
-Fantasia para un gentilhombre (Joaquin Rodrigo)
-Fantasie Brillante on themes from Bizet's Carmen
-Capriccio Espagnole (Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov)

and the other great thing is that the tickets are only ten dollars for students!!! i'm too excited to do hw right now! i'm also really looking forward to this weekend b/c friday night we're going to go see Pirates 2 at Pruis and on sunday mis padres are coming to the family weekend concert! the BSSO will be playing Jurassic Park and i think there will also be some choirs and jazz bands doing stuff too!
Have a fabulous week ya'll!

i feel like a zombie!

wow, just when i don't think life can get any busier, it does! Don't get me wrong, i'm soooo thankful for the many opportunities there are here at school...but sometimes i feel like my head is going to just fall off. today emily and i had to get up at 4:30am in order to be at church by 5:30 so we could travel with the traveling praise team to a church near Gary. usually i can sleep in the car, but Pastor Ken is a loco driver and he had some crazy moments like when we nearly ran over a deer! also, we were pretty cramped in the van. it was a great experience however, and it reminded me a bunch of the old FMT days!!! so anywho, em and i are now back in Muncie and completely worn out. we even went to the MIB to practice since we felt guilty for not having practiced all weekend, but could only practice half an hour. we both feel gross cause we didn't shower this morning. i should probably go do theory hw now before i fall asleep. so sorry about my negative attitude, i'm such a grump when i'm tired...haha! nite peeps!

scariness

life is sooooo busy right now, and the school year has only begun! The only thing getting me through is reliance on Jesus Christ. I think i'm finally adjusting to the new schedule and getting around 5 or 6 hours of sleep each night. anywho, now for the story of why my blog is titled "scariness". So after flute choir got over (8:30pm), i was walking on my way to the library to listen to some norton scores for music history, when all of a sudden a bunch of guys start yelling at me from their car as i walked past. They were rather inebriated i dare say. They kept asking me for my name and i just laughed at them and shook my head. It's not even a friday night, how pathetic! i was reminded tonight of why i don't enjoy walking around campus by myself in the dark, although it can be quite peaceful. i hope everyone is surviving school and not too stressed out. later...

i love life!

wow, it's already week three! i'm officially done lifeguarding for the season! i'm glad to be done with work but at the same time it's sad to say goodbye to my fellow lifeguards, and realize my tan won't last much longer! As much as i love the fast pace of college...i'm learning to cherish every moment that i'm able to relax with friends and just enjoy the simple things. for example, on monday night we played twister in the study lounge. it was way too much fun! we were laughing so hard it hurt! even though emily and i have 8am classes every day, i can't help but look forward to hearing her groan when her loft attacks her each morning, singing Beauty and the Beast and other broadways while getting ready for the day, or singing solfege/warming up our voices on the way to sightear. (yeah, we get some pretty weird looks!) All this to say, I am soooooo blessed! Some days i keep waiting for something extraordinary to happen and fail to see and appreciate what i already have.
Isaiah 12: 5 & 6
"Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things; let this be known throughout the earth. Cry aloud and shout for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, For great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel."
