Yeeeaaahhh! only five more days and seventeen hours until summer vacation!!! now, time to study for finals!

Random stuff...

today was great! mainly b/c my bible study group went to Ivanhoes, which has the world's best icecream sundaes! Nicole, Amanda, Emily, and I also de-stressed by watching Dirty Dancing Havana Nights and giving each other back massages. Best of all, i passed my guitar proficiency test today!!! I was even able to play the f major chord cleanly, which is a big deal imo. Dr. Maltas cracks me up b/c after i finished the test she told me that she loves hearing me sing and that i should take voice lessons. I was like, "i would love to take voice lessons, but i have a hard enough time keeping up with piano, flute/picc, and guitar!" That reminds me, Eunhye (my sightear prof) thought that Emily and i were vocal majors when we sang for our first sightsinging test. i'm going to miss her alot next year...she's hilarious, esp. when she starts saying animal sounds in Korean. tomorrow wind ens. is performing at the State Museum in Indy! Monday we performed at Ben Davis...which is about 30x the size of my highschool! i have a bunch of more random stuff i could add...but i'll spare ya'll from boredom! *Nite*

Easter

I love Easter! It is by far my favorite holiday! i wasn't exactly looking forward to Easter this year b/c i was staying at school while it seemed like everyone else went home. i also had a ton of hw to do . But as usual God's plans are much bigger and better than my own. This weekend ended up being way too much fun! it all started on friday...
I only had one (that's right) ONE class on friday!!!! well, i was supposed to have theory at 2pm but when i arrived to class Emily pretty much dragged me out and told me that no one was going to class so our teacher would have to cancel. It was, after all good friday! So then Emily and i went shopping at the mall for very random things such as an umbrella for emily and shorts b/c it is getting nice and warm outside. to end a great day, we went to Pruis to see "Newsies"! I love the music! it was hard to just sit and watch and not sing along! Saturday Jess, Emily, and i went to church to practice with the praise team for the Easter service. Then, instead of going back to our dorm rooms to do hw, we decided to drive to a nearby park and play.....you guessed it, soccer! An hour-and-a-half later we stopped at Incredible Yoghurt to cool down w/frozen yoghurt and lots of H2O. The remainder of the afternoon i worked on my spanish paper and my inquisit tests for mused, which are now 100% finished (yeah rah)! Emily came over to my room around 8pm to watch Serendipity. Afterwards we walked over to Jessica's room to say "hi". we ended up staying for a while b/c we started laughing and couldn't stop for about 20 minutes....i think i'm still sore. don't even ask me what were laughing about b/c there was no real reason! we were so loud, i think the entire hall could hear us! Today...we sang with the praise team in the college service. i learned a new song "At the Cross" (not the hymn). I really like it! Pastor Ken invited us to his house for Easter dinner which sounded much better than Lafollete or spaghetti from Walmart. I learned something new today: mint mentos + 2 liter bottle of diet coke = big explosion! it was quite amusing... and that's my que (sp?) to get back to my "flamenco" ppt! Happy Easter!

soccer (and other things)...

tonight Emily, Jessica, and i decided to eat dinner outside behind Botswin b/c it was sooooo nice out. Then we kicked Jess's soccer ball around. I decided that soccer is alot of fun..even though i suck at it. i guess i just enjoy any excuse to run around and not have to worry about anything. i even did some cartwheels in the grass! well, that was my eventful evening... Now for the lesson that God is currently teaching me: contentment! I'm a perfectionist...if i do something it has to be done perfectly...every little detail. While it is good to pay attention to detail, i get frustrated easily when i don't perform something up to my own standards. For example, Dr. Mattern is always telling me that my technique is great, but i need to work harder on playing with a rich, chocolate-like sound. Right now i feel that i'm working too hard b/c i'm sore and my jaw sometimes hurts after i practice...ahhh! I guess i just need to be patient and focus less on the notes and pay more attention to phrasing and tone colors. anways, back to the contentment thing...i realized the other day that i don't have to be the world's best flute player. what matters is that i enjoy playing beautiful music and use it to bring glory to God, the composer and orchestrator of each of our lives. i have to remind myself each day how short life is...i need to make it count!

i love spring

spring is my all time favorite season! i love watching flowers pop out all over the place and hearing the birds chirp their songs each morning as i walk to class. my heart can't help but thank God for the gift of life! today was rather interesting b/c before wind ensemble it was really sunny and warm, but then during rehearsal we could see it hailing and raining really hard for about fifteen or twenty minutes and then the sun decided to come back out. it was awesome! so anywho, tonight we're going to see "Spectacular" in Emens. it should be really good, although i've never seen it before. then amanda, nicole, and i are going to go see Memoirs of Geisha at Pruis! i'm quite excited! oh yeah, and my big paper that was due today is now due on Monday b/c my edpys class was canceled this morning....woot! theory was even fun today...or at least as fun as theory can be! i hope everyone has a great weekend...Caio
