Aso mecha!

today was super fun! I had my first official day of work at the Cove. It went great, other than suffering from hypothermia during our backboard training. On top of that, the management asked all us lifeguards to go down the banana peel to test it out. as if once was not enough, they asked me to go down it a second time-- and it was frigid, but fun! After work I took a quick shower and then my Uncle arrived!!! I went to Ashley's open-house which was super fun, and her mom is the best cook ever! It was fun talking w/friends and catching up on life. and now i'm cleaning the house getting ready for Tirzah's open-house on Sunday! Yay...she's graduating tomorrow and she's valedictorian...aso mecha chica! for those of you who haven't been to Poza Rica, Veracruz that means "wow"! okay, i think it's time for me to stop rambling. one last thing, i promise... God is awesome, i'm so undeserving of His grace! Have a great weekend and congrats to all the hs graduates!!!

help, i'm addicted to music!

Even though i've not been home long it seems my life still revolves around music. i only practice like 2 or 3 hours of flute, piano, and guitar a day but than i listen to hours of music after that. For example right now i'm listening to Mercy Me "I Worship You". Last night was our first LCB (Lafayette Citizen's Band) rehearsal for the summer season. I forgot how much fun it was to play through a bunch of fun pieces (anything from Broadways/musicals to marches and Shostacovich) and then perform them the next day. Well, actually our first concert is on Memorial Day @ 7:30pm at Rhiele Plaza. The majority of our concerts are on Thursday nights. I'm glad that Bill Kissinger is still the LCB director even though he retired this past year from Purdue bands.
Tomorrow is my first official day of work at the Cove! I'm excited about it, but there's also alot of responsibility that goes along with lifeguarding... This afternoon we have more in-service training. Tomorrow is Ashley Crussel's open-house and then my Uncle Sergio is flying in from Ft. Lauderdale! He's coming for Tirzah's graduation on Saturday! it's been so long since we've seen him. I hope everyone is enjoying the nice warm weather...i think summer has finally arrived!
Isaias 43:1-3
"No temas, que yo te he redimido; te he llamado por tu nombre; tu eres mio. Cuando cruces las aguas, yo estare contigo; cuando cruces los rios, no te cubriran sus aguas; cuando camines por el fuego, no te quemaras ni te abrasaran las llamas. Yo soy el Senor, tu Dios..."
Isaiah 43: 1-3
"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you. For I am the Lord your God.."

my poor Cider!

i'm sooooo sad! i found out that my doggy (Cider) is almost deaf! yeah, this is the same dog that used to sing "happy birthday" with us and alert us of any intruders outside...i.e. blue jays, bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks, deer, and occasional little kids riding their bikes or roller blading. I know he's old but he had always acted like a puppy! now it makes me sad to see him just lie there and have no clue that we've been calling his name for the past five minutes. i guess i should be thankful that he's still otherwise healthy! it just makes me sad...
On a happy note, i saw Turza dance for the last time tonight w/LBC! She was amazing, as usual! It was also great fun to see the old ballet buddies! It's kinda weird b/c so many of the girls that i remember being in like pre-ballet are now on point! they look so little, i wonder how they have enough strength to support themselves on their toes. as much as i miss ballet, i don't miss toe shoes..those things were pretty much self-torture. i respect people like Sabrina for sticking w/it in college!
well, it's getting late and i need to get up pretty early tomorrow for 8 more hours of lifeguard training...yipee!
oh, and before i go, here's a quote i read this morning that i really liked:
"Greatness is revealed mainly in our attitudes."

home, sweet home!

It's so great to be back in good old Lafayette! This week has been very relaxing...i think i've gotten at least 8 hours of sleep each night so far!!! I'm almost more tired now...wierd. anywho, i haven't really done a whole lot the past few days, so i'm feeling rather lazy right now. I have practiced guitar twice i think, and i watched Las Locaduras del Emperador to keep spanish fresh in my mind until June 17! Oh yeah, on Tuesday i went to Christina's to get my hair cut and it ended up that the lady that cut my hair was Mexican and she didn't speak hardly any english! it's kinda ironic cause i was just thinking about how i needed to speak alot of spanish over the summer. i talked with Felicita Gomez (the Mexican woman) for pretty much the entire hour! it was too much fun... wow, i'm starting to sound like Nisha! Speaking of Nisha, (my older sister who's currently studying in Spain), she accepted the job in Miami to teach Spanish and possibly French at a really big private school (1000 students in grades 9-12). She'll probably move down in early August and my whole family might possibly go as well and visit my mom's brother Sergio who lives in Ft. Lauderdale. The summer is starting to fill up quickly with plans. i love plans! I hate just sitting around and being bored, but my goal this summer is to read many books! i don't usually read very often but since i've gone to BSU, i've realized that i need to be able to defend my faith better. There are so many great books that build on and further expand my knowledge of Christ. Right now i'm doing a study on Joseph. His life story is incredible! There's no wonder that Moses spent almost 14 chapters in Genesis telling the story of this man of forgiveness and integrity. i'm pretty excited about it!
More good news, i start lifeguard training tomorrow at Jefferson High School, and tonight i'm going to see the Harrison Band Spring Disney concert...i'm such a band geek! hehe! Have a great fin de semana!
Ps. 86:5 "You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you."
