Home again in Indiana

Spain was pretty much amazing!!! It was ten days packed w/ great memories (for the most part)! Europe is such a different world from Lafayette! In some sense i feel like we traveled back in time b/c of all the castles, cathedrals, cobblestone streets, basilicas, walled cities, moats, bridges, you get the picture. But in many other ways it felt so modern. I can't believe how much we did in just ten days! If you want a detailed summary refer to Tirzah's blog: tirzahspalantir.blogspot.com i'm simply too lazy to summarize our adventures a second time. haha! My favorite part of Spain was the Bullfight we saw in Madrid (ole!) and the Alhambra in Granada.... every person should see it at least once in his/her life! If i ever go back to Spain i would return to the Alhambra preferably during one of their summer concerts. Oh, and if you want to see pics of Spain, check out my facebook album, although pictures don't nearly do it justice.
so life's back to "normal" now. tonight and Monday night the Lafayette Citizen's band are rehearsing for the July 4 concert at Slayter hill. It starts at 7pm with the Jazz band, Los Blancos, and a couple other groups and then the LCB performs with the choir at 8pm until the fireworks at 10pm. so ya'll should come out b/c what would independence day be w/o good patriotic music? tomorrow i work all day at the Cove plus a morning orchestra rehearsal at church for the special sunday service. who ever said that summer was relaxing? : )
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 comes out en una semana!!! okay, i'm out...

Two more days!!!

I'm SUPER excited- i'm going to Spain in two days! i don't think i can wait that long! sometimes i just want to fast foward time a bit, but than i remember that the anticipation only heightens the excitement even more! we found out today that our flight from Indy to Newark, New Jersey is at 5:50am on friday! that means we get to get up at the ungodly hour of 3am! i'm glad that i can sleep on airplanes! the kewl thing is that we have a 12 hr. layover in Newark! the plan is to take the metro to Manhattan and kill time going to see the statue of liberty, ground zero, etc. i'm pretty excited cause i've never been to NYC! from there we fly to Madrid and then take the bus to Salamanca where we'll meet Nisha for lunch! The next week and a half will be spent visiting various cities in central and southern spain such as toledo, granada, and seville. Probably what i'm looking foward to the most is seeing the old architecture and castles and watching flamenco shows. i'm least looking forward to the food b/c no me gusta mariscos (i don't like seafood). Fresh fish is pretty good, but i can't stand octapus and oysters! at least it should be cooked and not raw like ceviche in Peru, that stuff was gross! okay, enough complaining...
i have alot to do between now and friday though. tomorrow i work till 4pm and then we have our LCB rehearsal at Elliot. Thursday i also work until 4pm and then we have our LCB concert. My parents are going down to Indy for my dad's checkup/catscan at the IU medical center in the morning. they're also going to drop off my flute at Straubinger's for a coa (clean, oil, adjustment) and picking up Uncle Darell (my dad's younger bro) at the airport b/c he's going to spain w/us.
not much else to say except that it's crazy how many little kids don't know how to swim. i've already had to save two drowning kids at the bottom of the Toucan shoot in the past five days. Even though it's nice and warm outside the water temp. is FREEZING!
time to start packing...
g'nite ya'll!
